Adorable Queer Wedding at San Francisco City Hall!

Pride month was founded on June 28, 1970, and I would turn three years old the next day. At the time, I had no idea that this unofficial holiday would become a symbol both personally and nationally for anybody who wanted to celebrate the joy and freedom of being their authentic self. There are currently 1.2 million same-sex households in America, and that number is growing every year. I'd love to send a big "Happy Pride" and a rainbow hug to each and every one of you celebrating Pride in the month of June.

I've spoken to many queer couples from all over the country who want to get married, but don't have a supportive environment in the state that they live in now. Our City hall is called "The Peoples Palace" and all are very welcome here. So please fly out to see us, hold hands in public, and kiss whoever you want, wherever you want to.

Jaqueline and Janine came to us earlier this year on February 24, 2023, to have a same-sex civil ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, and they were joined by their best friends in the whole world. One of the most fun pictures that we took with them and their friends was a photograph of three couples kissing...and it was an exact copy of an image they took at one of the OTHER couple's weddings! They pulled up the image on their phones to show me, and we had a blast setting it up.

One of the best features of a SF City Hall wedding is that the building is very neutral and you can bring in your own wedding vibe. These brides pretty much stocked up on every single rainbow item they could find. The whole group received their own rainbow flags, and the newlyweds changed into custom-created rainbow-soled sneakers. It was cold and rainy outside, but it was a blaze of happy color inside the building.

If you're planning to book a San Francisco City Hall civil ceremony wedding, you'll want to go online to the San Francisco County Clerk within 90 days before the day you want to get married. You'll need to look at two different calendars that they have on their website. First, choose your wedding date, and next set a date to pick up your California State Marriage License. You should book the marriage license appointment at least a full hour before your civil ceremony wedding time, or come in with your fiancé and pick it up in the ninety-day window before your wedding day. You'll each need to bring a valid form of government ID like a passport or driver's license and both be present. You may also get your marriage license from any County Clerk in the state of California and bring it with you to SF City Hall for your wedding.

If you're thinking about getting married in 2023 during Pride month, San Francisco has an incredible amount of events scheduled to help you celebrate the LGBTQ nation. The Frameline Film Festival is in its 47th year and runs June 14-24, and the epic Pride Parade marches down Market Street on Sunday, June 25th. We'll be a part of it as we are every year, marching with Muttville Senior Dog Rescue!
