Charming Destination Elopement in Monterey

Like so many modern love stories, Anne and Matt met on Tinder in Switzerland, where they both lived on the same side of town. Matt had also just signed up in January 2023, and they matched with each other very quickly! Right from the start they had chemistry and started writing to each other for hours each day during lockdown. Anne says she found their conversations to be deep and exciting, and that they were definitely on the same wavelength. Their Tinder app has eighty-two pages of communications:)

These two trusted their gut, and after only a month, they became engaged on February 2, 2022, still having never met in person. They finally met two days later, and both said that the other exceeded their expectations.

According to Anne, “We both met on the dating app Tinder in Switzerland where we both lived very close to each other. A few days after Matt signed up, there was already a match between the two of us. That was in January 2022. Immediately after the match we wrote to each other every day for several hours. Our conversations quickly became very deep and exciting.” She says, "We quickly realized that we not only had amazingly similar experiences and interests but also that the chemistry was right and that we were on the same wavelength in so many areas of life."

They've spent every day together since the day that they met, and feel incredibly grateful to have found each other. They moved in together after six months, traveled around Europe together, and decided that Monterey, California would be the perfect place for their elopement wedding. Because we are both a California elopement photography company and an intimate wedding planning company, we were able to guide them every step of the way for their perfect beachside wedding ceremony and couples wedding photography session. Anne really wanted a spot high atop a cliff, overlooking the ocean, because their home country is landlocked, and does not touch any oceans at all. (However, they do have the best chocolates and watches in the world, so don't feel too bad for them!)

Their package included their wedding officiant Eileen, a bridal bouquet and boutonniere, and two hours of wedding photography. You can customize your own package by adding hair and makeup for you, and also any bridal party or family members.

Lovers Point Park offers so many choices for your wedding ceremony. They have a lush green lawn with a beautiful butterfly statue, (There's a Monarch butterfly sanctuary right up the street), a white sandy crescent beach, and all kinds of boulders and tide pools to use as your photography backdrop. We've never photographed a ceremony in the exact location that they chose, so I thought a blog post would be helpful to showcase this new option. The beach at Lovers Point Park is marvelous and rarely has many people on it, but it DOES disappear at high tide. We always check the tide chart when booking a wedding at this location to make sure that you have plenty of that beautiful white sand to run around on and enjoy. The cove is backed by a two-story rock wall that's also really pretty as a backdrop.

Anne chose a bouquet of pink, white, and green, with roses, wildflowers, and eucalyptus, with a matching boutonniere for Matt. Her white halter neck dress with cutouts on the bodice, and his tan linen suit, completed their coastal California wedding style! If you are having a simple pop-up elopement with no arch and chairs, you can forgo a permit, but if you want a larger more formal affair, you can choose a location and obtain your permit here.
